90-degree temperatures mark hot start to bulk of Rocky Mountain

Some players sought refuge on wooden picnic tables that were under an overhang, out of the glare of the relentless sun. Others found comfort in patches of shade produced by tall trees. Almost everybody sipped bottles of Powerade or chugged cups of water.

It wasn't uncommon for three-set matches to last as long as three hours. Players stretched before hitting the courts, and following a 10-minute warmup, they got 90 seconds of rest on changeovers and two minutes of rest between sets. They had at least an hour for a bite between matches, with players in multiple divisions logging as many as three matches.Cardiovascular workouts that improved his endurance readied Chiu to deal with the heat, "so I wouldn't have to worry so much about pacing myself and getting tired," he noted. Chiu wants to win, and despite the elements, "I try to give my best every shot," he said. "I go for points. If I see a ball far away, I run for it. ... You need to know your body.""Every individual knows themselves the best," said Joel Dixon, a physical therapist with the Colorado Center of Orthopaedic Excellence. His advice to State Games competitors? "If you're thirsty, keep drinking," he said, aware of the importance of consuming fluids "on a day when it's hot and dry and everyone is working hard. It looks like they're doing a good job of staying hydrated. But you may not realize how much water you're losing."Eight orange water jugs and a huge ice chest lined the tennis courts, and medical staffers were available to treat those complaining of lightheadedness, confusion and headaches - all signs of heat exhaustion. And calling 911 in case of an emergency was an option, like last year at the State Games, when a 60-year-old man passed out after a three-set match.Roughly 90 youth and adult tennis players, as well as players forming seven high school soccer teams, gutted out temperatures in the low 90s, with sporadic cloud cover and not much wind. It was a little hotter than the average high for July in the Springs, which is 84 degrees, and sweltering courts and scorching fields didn't provide any relief.State Games tennis commissioner Dave Lehman maintains well- conditioned players have an advantage in the heat. "If you're out there trying to play in this and you're not in any kind of condition at all," he said, "you're going to go down. ... We keep water on hand. We keep ice on hand. Unfortunately, there isn't any shade on the courts. That's just life."Davis also drained container after container of liquids Thursday - in hopes of avoiding cramps and preventing what happened to his brother, Coulten, who once threw up on the court at the State Games because of dehydration. Plus, he works in a few extra bounces on serves, "so I can recover," he said. "But during the point, I try my hardest."Pine Creek junior Owen Davis, the top seed in the 18-and-under draw, and Steven Chiu, a Denver high school senior, each downed about half a gallon of water during a two-hour match won 6-1, 4-6, 6- 2 by Chiu. They drank on every changeover, "at least a little bit, even though you don't feel like you're sweating or doing a lot," Chiu said. "Sometimes, just the heat gets you, so you have to drink a little bit. ... It's pretty hot."

Cardiovascular workouts that improved his endurance readied Chiu to deal with the heat, "so I wouldn't have to worry so much about pacing myself and getting tired," he noted. Chiu wants to win, and despite the elements, "I try to give my best every shot," he said. "I go for points. If I see a ball far away, I run for it. ... You need to know your body."

Picnic Tables To Make Your Outdoor Events Better

Many parks are offering picnic tables for the convenient seating as most people opt for a picnic to spend some quality time with their families. But if you like the comfort of your home for an outdoor gathering, you might be interested in new trend of decorating the front or backyards with picnic tables.

Picnic tables made of metals such as aluminum and steel are becoming extremely popular these days. Aluminum is the perfect option when it comes to outdoor furniture because of its durability and resistance to corrosion. They are easy to maintain and withstand extreme weather conditions. Picnic tables come in a variety of impressive designs that make the whole setting look wonderful. Outdoor furniture made of aluminum is light weighted and rust resistant. Picnic tables made of plastic are also quite affordable and look amazing in the parks. Besides that, plastic tables offer plenty of variety in terms of designs, shapes and colors. From the humongous range of these, you can choose the ones that look ideal. If you are purchasing the picnic tables for commercial use, you should pick up bright colors like maroon, dark green or deep blue. You should put a lot of thought in the colors and designs of picnic tables for residential purpose before making a purchase. If you want to place a picnic table in your backyard, you should consider one that is smaller in size, so it won't occupy too much of space. The look and style of the picnic table assumes much more importance because it is being placed in your yard and should go with the setup of that area. The structure of the picnic table should amalgamate with the layout of your home to create a perceptible arrangement. For many of us, the most memorable part of a family picnic in the park is the soothing sun rays, cool breeze, sandwiches and a blanket laid out in the ground that was later invaded by plenty of ants with a mission to ruin the entire setting. But in the recent times, most of the parks are furnished with picnic tables and benches to help you relinquish the time you spend with your loved ones without any distractions from the insects. Apart from the parks, picnic tables are often found in the back or front yards of many homes. People use these to decorate their outdoors and make them more inviting place. They add these furniture to make the yards a comfortable place to spend some quality time with their families and friends out in the open.Putting picnic tables in your yards is a wise choice as these are cost effective and don't require any maintenance. To purchase any kind of picnic tables for commercial as well as residential use, it is advised you shop online. You will find a better variety over the Internet with the convenience as you don't have to visit plenty of stores looking for the best picnic tables. Moreover, online shopping gives you the opportunity to check out the wide range and compare between the prices offered by different companies. If you want to purchase outdoor furniture, you can search the Internet and find companies that offer picnic tables for commercial and residential use.

Planning Years of Fun With Attractive Outdoor Playsets

When considering the best way to keep your child entertained, many parents might think about video games or DVD movies as a way to just pass the time, but outdoor playsets provide a better option and create an attractive addition to your backyard. Not only can they offer healthy exercise, but they can be used over and over again without becoming boring.

More elaborate children's play retreats can exceed $5,000 or $10,000 in price, but they are so attractive to modern consumers that they can even up the value of your if they are constructed of heavy timber that lasts for years. If you want a healthy solution for childhood play, setting up an entertaining play area in your backyard can offer your child healthy exercise that doesn't grow stale.A child can only watch a movie so many times before it is no longer interesting, and even video game play can be perfected in a short amount of time and lose its allure. Outdoor playsets, on the other hand, come in a variety of configurations, meaning years of fun for your children.A variety of features in kid structures will better keep them occupied, especially as they get older. While younger children might be satisfied with a simple playset that includes swings, gliders, slides and monkey bars, you might want to consider other fun features, including decks, picnic tables, wave slides or canvas tarp covers for protection from the elements.Features To Include In Outdoor Play AreasFor today's lucky children, modern kid's structures come very elaborately designed. They might feature playhouse panels, wood roofs, spiral slides, artificial rock-walls, rope ladders, lofts, and all other kinds of neat features. There are playsets for residential and commercial purposes, such as child care facilities and parks, and there are simple structures that might cost a few hundred dollars. When you are considering permanent play areas for your backyard, attractive timbers that are naturally decay resistant will last for years and don't require toxic chemicals to treat them. Consider playsets for the outdoors that are made from Western Red Cedar, Cypress and Redwood. They can virtually be constructed in just about any configuration, and they are sturdy enough for children of all ages, including adults. The older the child, the more you need additional items to make the backyard more interesting. In addition, there are some parents that will add above ground swimming pools or trampolines as the child gets older.Safe, Attractive Hardwood Timber Playsets

Lawn Furniture

If you love being outdoors, you should pick lawn furniture that you love! It should be more than practical and functional. It should add to the very experience of being outside. There are so many options in lawn furniture, and you are sure to find something to fit within your budget.

No matter where you plan to buy your lawn furniture, there are a number of items you should check before making a purchase. First, if there happens to be a model on display, try it out. Sit in the chairs. Put pressure on the table top to see how sturdy it is. Does it tip easily? There is only one way to find out! If you buy a lawn furniture set that needs to be assembled, do an inventory of the contents of the box as soon as you open it. If you find that you are missing a part, call the store immediately and let them know you will be coming for either a replacement for the missing part or returning the set you have for a complete one. Once you get the complete set, follow the manufacturers directions for assembly. You can find lawn furniture at a number of stores ranging from your local discount or big box store to the woodworker who custom designs lawn furniture specifically to your liking. And dont forget the Internet as a source. You have a world of lawn furniture at your fingertips and can even shop from home while wearing your pajamas!Once you have constructed your lawn furniture, you are ready to start enjoying it. Maybe you already have the perfect place in mind for it. If not, just pretend your yard is a big room. Move your lawn furniture around to experiment with placement just like you would in your house. Once you find the spot, settle in. Youll be happy with your lawn furniture purchase for a long time.Does your family host a lot of picnics? If so, theres no doubt a picnic table in your future. Picnic tables come in a lot of varieties ranging from plastic to cast iron. This is one piece of furniture that can truly fit into any budget. If the picnic table will be used predominantly by adults, a cheaper plastic variety might suit your needs. But if kids are planned guests, think about investing in something just a little more sturdy that can hold up to a flurry of activity that usually follows kids.If a picnic table and benches are not your style, dont despair. Look into other tables. Choose a heavy glass and concrete pedestal table. Mix and match chairs to get the lawn furniture look you want. Or buy a set. Your lawn furniture fashion options are endless!

Changing Beliefs of TV's Celebrity Big Brother Contestants

Ok, ok, so I admit it, I have watched one or two episodes of celebrity big brother on the TV here in the UK in past couple of weeks. I am not a reality game show fanatic, however, I find it fascinating.

So have a good think about this question; "What is stopping you from achieving your goal?" and know that the answers are very often your limiting beliefs.** Plage - St. Pierre Campground and Beach is a nice slightly out of the way treasure for the leisurely traveller. Nestled just south of the Acadian village of Cheticamp, Nova Scotia on Cape Breton Island - Plage St. Pierre campground blends modern amenities with the peace and serenity of Canada's nature.Early limiting beliefs may come from childhood influences such as parents or teachers or people whose beliefs we deemed worthy of believing ourselves. These early beliefs often stay hidden and we do not consciously evaluate them as adults. We also pick up limiting beliefs from the media. The numerous soap operas that take up so many hours of TV time set up situations where the characters have to act out ridiculous limitations, otherwise there simply is no drama to compulsively view!Limiting beliefs are the major offender stopping us from achieving our goals and living our dreams. They act as rules that stop us from getting what exists within us as potential and we all have so much potential that we do not tap into nearly enough. Limiting beliefs hold us back from achieiving what we are actually capable of and what we deserve. In the process of achieving your goals, sometimes just being able to articulate any existing limiting beliefs and in turn noticing their effect is enough to alter or dissolve your old unwanted belief and therefore change and update your own reality.Your beliefs are pretty much the rules of your life, well at least they are the rules that you will no doubt be living by. These rules may be what sets you free to achieve things in your life and live the way that you think is important. These beliefs may well also be restricting you and holding you back; they may even be creating the belief that you are incapable of achieving your goals. Or as in the case of contestants from Celebrity Big Brother, stop you from being agreeable to someone! When not pulled out, the 12-inch-wide step blends with the 20-inch-high deck, giving little hint of its double identity. The only clues are the notches cut in the riser. Two notches are hand holes; others are for 2-by-4 guides mounted to the underside of the double 2-by-6 step."No pain - no gain."
"I need to have lots of money to be happy."
"I can't trust anybody."
"You can't get over a bad start in life."
"I am too old to learn to use a computer."
"I never get what I am after."
"Other people are better than me."
"I do not deserve to be successful."
"I have reached my limits."
"I need to work very hard to have enough money to live."
"Success takes a very long time."I have the skills and abilities necessary to achieve this goal.My goal is worthwhile. My goal is clear and defined.Onsite you'll find firerings, a pay phone, washrooms with flush toilets and running-water sinks, and pay showers. There are about 65 overnight sites, some electrical. Prices were around $16 Canadian. Phone: 902-823-2582Both RV and tent campers love Nova Scotia's scenery and campgrounds. For RV campers, however, the roads could be quite a bit less bumpy. But the scenery of tranquil sites are worth it. Make sure you call or contact these campgrounds before you make plans. Just as campgrounds in the northern United States often close for the winter, not all Canadian Maritimes campgrounds will be open during their mild winters.Additional luxuries include a recreation and games room, movies, playground, tennis court, mini-golf. Phone: 1-(902)224-2112Understand that the belief that beliefs are changeable is in itself a challenging belief to many people because they tend to think of beliefs as possessions. People talk about 'holding' and 'having' beliefs, 'losing' or 'gaining' them. No one wants to 'lose' something. It would be better talking about them 'leaving' or 'outgrowing' beliefs rather than 'losing' them.Step one: Take a piece of paper and write down an important goal. Have a good look at that goal and really think about it.When you begin to question and examine your beliefs you can unearth what might be limiting beliefs and then you can begin to heighten your awareness of whether or not your beliefs are preventing you from achieving your goals.Jodie and Preston both openly stated beliefs that they thought she was not a proper celebrity (whatever that is) because of how she was famous and Jodie Marsh actually said, when she was evicted from the house last week, that she thought Faria was lovely!! Amazing stuff. When she got to know her beyond what she originally believed, she discovered something that was liberating and kind instead of to the contrary. The first way is to simply ask yourself what the reasons are that you are not currently achieving your goal. What do you think is holding you back? Ask yourself that question and answer as truthfully and thoroughly as you can. The answers will reveal what it is that you perceive to be limitations. More often than not, these limits will be more about you than about the world. When they are about you, they are something that can be changed or updated.** King Neptune Campground is convenient to Peggy's Cove. (It's street address is 8536 Peggy's Cove Road, Indian Harbour). This easy-to-find campground is a scenic oceanside campground with many, many campsites having open views of the ocean. Plus if you're daring, there's ocean swimming. It has certainly been my experience that the majority of people are not usually aware of their limiting beliefs. So the first step is to put them into language or to write them down. Then they are exposed and can be examined and ideally let go of. There are two simple ways to do this:The park features flush toilets , washrooms with free showers, and 36 serviced and 13 unserviced sites. They've now added modem connections. All electrical is 30 Amp.These and similar beliefs are only true if you act as if they are. Suppose they are mistaken? what difference would that make?** The Louisbourg RV Park is in downtown Louisbourg, Nova Scotia on Cape Breton Island. It is near the waterfront boardwalk and adjacent to the Louisbourg Playhouse.Look at the lowest scores for any of your answers and begin to explore them. This can be wonderfully enlightening. Low scores highlight and indicate a limiting belief or that you have not thought about the goal sufficiently. If you have discovered some doubts in some areas of your goals, now begin to ask your self about the reasons you are doubtful or what could be making you doubt this? It's an open campground on the Harbourfront Crescent, and is a mere 5 minute drive to the Fortress of Louisbourg. It is a beautiful and well-kept park. VERY easy to find.I wonder how many of you are already losing sight of your New Year goals or resolutions? Your beliefs may well be affecting your degree of success. Now, I have found that when people do ask themselves these questions in their own mind, they are rarely honest with themselves, so here is another approach that I use a lot with my one to one clients to discover what, if any, limiting beliefs you have;We tend to form our beliefs as the result of our experiences and then we act as if they are true. In one sense they are self-fulfilling propphecies. If you believe you are a likeable person, you will act that way, approach people openly and enjoy being with them. They will warm to you and so confirm your belief. We think that beliefs are formed by experiences, but equally experiences are the results of beliefs. To make it easy to pull out the step, Mr. Young made sure the 2 by 12's were all square to the deck and projected equally on the front. He cut a notch in the front end of each 2 by 12, so the projecting part is 9 inches high and 11 inches long. The remaining part and the 2-by-6 blocking keep the step from sliding in too far.

When you begin to question and examine your beliefs you can unearth what might be limiting beliefs and then you can begin to heighten your awareness of whether or not your beliefs are preventing you from achieving your goals.

Nova Scotia Campgrounds Offer A Peaceful Retreat: An Overview of Three Campgrounds in Nova Scotia

Canadian campgrounds in the Maritime provinces are gems for the camping traveller. If they're not directly on the ocean, or a bay, or another waterway, they're usually conveniently close.

Step two: As you think about that goal, assess and score each of the following statements;My goal is desirable to me.Nearby you'll find a pleasing mixture of forested walking trails, and paths through blueberry and raspberry fields, and great views of the waterways from the shore. On your journeys you'll be giving yourself a great chance to see deer, bald eagles, snowy owls, or even a group of whales.One thing that I have found fascinating is how different people react to others just because of what they believed before they entered the house rather than treating individuals on the basis of how they have experienced them first hand.I deserve to achieve my goal.Score each of these statements by giving it a score out of 10. Where 1 means you do not believe this statement and 10 means that you believe it without a doubt at all.They accept Visa, Mastercard, and Direct Debit and charge from $13 to $17.50 Canadian. Call Toll Free - 1-(866)733-3631What's more, we all have a personal investment in our own beliefs. When the world confirms them, then they make a lot of sense to us, they are then predictable and give us a sense of security and certainty. We even may take a perverse pleasure in disaster, providing we have predicted it; how many of you have used the term 'I told you so' and found it to be a satisfying phrase? Not because you necessarily wanted anything to go wrong, but because your beliefs were proved correct.So this then means that you can choose your beliefs!There is a young musician from a fabulous band in the Big Brother house called Preston and he voted for a lady called Faria to be evicted from the house simply because of the fact that she is famous for a kiss and tell story with England football coach Sven Goran Erickson. The first evictee, Jodie Marsh, was also cold and unpleasant to Faria on the first night for the very same reasons and expressed that to Dennis Rodman in the house. Neither of them judged Faria on how they found her or on their own personal experience of her.Here are some typical limiting beliefs that are amazingly common;

Additional luxuries include a recreation and games room, movies, playground, tennis court, mini-golf. Phone: 1-(902)224-2112

Their deck becomes a preschooler's picnic table

A pull-out step turns this deck into a picnic table. How? The 114-inch-long step becomes a bench seat along one side of the multilevel deck. Owners Anne and Jim Young of Tualatin, Oregon, scaled it for use by their small children; it's too low for comfortable adult seating.

The blocking is important; without it, the weight of a child on the pulled-out seat could make it tip backwards. But because the 2-by-4 guides extend beneath the blocking, their upward motion is stopped. Although the step can be completely removed, the Youngs slide it out only 7 or 8 inches, leaving about 5 inches of the 2 by 4's beneath the blocking. (To ensure that guides do not come out or tip over, you could use longer 2 by 4's and add stop blocks to their ends.)Plage - St. Pierre campground offers a mix of 144 wooded and open serviced sites for trailers, tents, and motorhomes. And features a long stretch of open ocean beach frontage. The modern amenities include a cantina with ice and other supplies. Modern washrooms with flush toilets, showers, changing, payphones, laundromat, picnic tables and fire pits are conveniently onsite. As the sketch below shows, the 2 by 12's are blocked between the deck's support posts. The 2-by-6 blocks were toenailed in place; a nailed 1-by-4 rear brace joins the three 2 by 12's. The blocking, front riser, and rear bracing keep the 2 by 12's rigidly in position.

There are temporary towns like "Slab City" in California, complete with bookstores, grocery vendors, and other businesses run by RVers. When summer returns, these boondock communities disappear, and reappear again the following winter. The Catholic University of America, located near the heart of Washington, D.C., is unique as the national university of the Catholic Church in America. Founded by the U.S. bishops in 1887 and chartered by Congress, the University opened as a graduate and research institution. Undergraduate programs were introduced in 1904. Today the private and coeducational campus has approximately 6,900 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in 12 schools of architecture and planning, arts and sciences, canon law, engineering, law, library and information science, music, nursing, philosophy, professional studies, social service, and theology and religious studies. For more information, visit www.cua.edu.Look, and you'll find "hidden" places where you can park your RV for a week or a month in the desert southwest. Some are free, and others just inexpensive. For example, the Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area, north of Bowie, Arizona, costs $3 per night, but has nice hotsprings and plenty of wildlife. You can get an annual permit for $30, but you're limited to two weeks per month (permits are sold at the BLM office in Safford). Outside of the fenced area you can stay free, but then you don't get the hotsprings and shaded picnic tables.

Catholic University to Recognize Students’ Solar Picnic Table Design and Announce Expansion of Solar Energy System

WASHINGTON -- Six students from The Catholic University of America (CUA) are being recognized today by University President John Garvey for their innovative, one-of-a-kind, solar-powered picnic table that was recently installed on the patio outside the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center. The table — equipped with outlets capable of charging laptops, cell phones, e-books and other electronic devices — was the winning design in a contest sponsored by the University. Students on the design team received scholarships provided by Washington Gas Energy Services, Inc. (WGES).

With the growing popularity of boondocking, the BLM has begun to establish areas for longer stays, particularly in Arizona. The permit fee is around $140 now, but this allows you to stay up to six months, and you'll have pump stations, dumpsters and water available. That's cheaper than paying property taxes or rent for a lot to park on.For inspiration and more home improvement hints, visit the Krylon website at www.krylon.com .Contact: Kristi Stolarski or Julie Brosien Falls Communications 216.696.0229 kstolarski@fallscommunications.com or jbrosien@fallscommunications.comBoondocking CommunitiesImage Available: http://www2.marketwire.com/mw/frame_mw?attachid=1579771About Krylon Krylon, the nation's leading spray paint manufacturer, is number one in color, innovation, and inspiration and consumer brand recognition. The Krylon consumer products line includes a wide selection of paints and paint-related products, from general-purpose paints to specialty products to rust-preventative paints and primers.CUA President Garvey also announced today the expansion of its solar photovoltaic (solar PV) system, which originally became operational in December 2009. The expansion will add 440 solar panels to the more than 1,000 panels already installed on four campus buildings. The expanded system will be one of the largest in the District of Columbia, and will now total 414 kilowatts and generate more than 500,000 kilowatt hours of power each year."When it comes to outdoor projects , homeowners are looking for more than just basic colors," said Denise Patterson, Krylon product manager. "They want vibrant and exciting color choices to personalize projects -- from wicker furniture and wooden picnic tables to pottery and planters. The newly launched color choices found in the Outdoor Spaces line make it simple to customize any project, large or small."“Our Catholic faith calls us to be good stewards of the environment,” said Catholic University President John Garvey. “Today we are celebrating two forward thinking examples of how we are doing that. One – the installation of additional solar panels – is focused on making our University’s infrastructure more ‘green.’ The second is a collaborative teaching moment that has given our students the opportunity to apply what they learned in the classroom to actually building something that is environmentally friendly.”Krylon introduces four stimulating new colors to complement an already wide range of contemporary colors in the Outdoor Spaces line:

RV Boondocking Tips

What is RV boondocking? It is simply camping in your recreatinal vehicle in an area with limited or no facilities. In many areas of the west, you can just drive into the desert, and stay free for up to two weeks. This is the case on most BLM (Bureau Of Land Management) and national forest lands. How far you have to move to stay another two weeks is open to interpretation, but is probably isn't far.

“Catholic University’s leadership in advancing the use of renewable energy has clearly motivated others to do the same,” said Harry Warren, president of WGES. “As one of the very first large purchasers of wind power in the D.C. region, Catholic University can take great pride in the recent announcement by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that the District of Columbia is now the nation’s leading city for renewable energy use. As the first Washington, D.C. University to install a large scale solar power system, CUA serves an example to other area universities and colleges. Today, they compound this leadership example by announcing the expansion of this solar installation and recognizing these remarkable and talented students and their environmental ingenuity.”Perhaps the largest gathering of RV boondockers is in Quartzite, Arizona. Up to several hundred thousand people spend at least part of the year boondocking here. Quartzite is near the California border, on Interstate 10, only 20 miles from the Colorado River. It's surrounded by BLM lands, and it's famous for gem shows and swap meets, and the multiplying of its population each winter.Other RV Boondocking OpportunitiesThere are many other areas like the Hot Well Dunes for cheap or free RV boondocking. Crystal Spoon takes barbecue to corporate level

When White Plains-based Combe Inc. - makers of Aqua Velva, Grecian, Vagisil and other personal products - hosted its Founder's Day picnic marking 62 years in business, the company turned to another "seasoned" pro for the festivities: Crystal Spoon in Elmsford.

What you will find hard to find in modern England is traditional English food. Fried food wasn't the only thing on the English restaurant menu, there were also healthy roast meats with vegetables, and dishes such as shepherd's pie (minced meat with mashed potato). These also have to some extent disappeared from the menu.Crystal Spoon offers many options and a complete arc of pricing possibilities. The lowest-priced "no-frills" barbecue is $8 per person, up to what company President Paul Ghiron called "the ultimate steak and shrimp setup - very elaborate" for $45 per person."At a sit-down Christmas party, you might talk to nine or 10 people at your table," he said. "With a barbecue, you can walk around and talk to everybody. And Christmas-type parties are more expensive. I like the barbecues as a better event with more ability to mingle, yet it's still affordable."Crystal Spoon is six years old and Top Chef is 18 months. The company caters some 1,500 events per year "throughout the tristate region," said Ghiron, adding, "We're the No. 1-ranked caterer in the Business Journals (Book of Lists) since 2005."Today's English food has changed, as have the eating habits of the English people. No longer are things fried in fat even fish and chip shops offer their menu fried in healthier oils! Restaurants, however, have changed beyond recognition since the 1950s and 1960s, with some of the world's finest chefs now working in England's major cities. An alternative to the roast dinner is a ploughman's lunch where crusty bread is served with a piece of cheese, pickles, and salad. Once you're finished your main course, try a pudding of spotted dick (a steamed cake with currents) and custard, or sherry trifle. The recession brought a 30 percent downturn in catering that last year began to reverse itself This year's bookings to date are 10 percent greater than 2010. With the help of a revamped web menu, the company ratcheted up its online business 300 percent in 2010 compared with 2009.The traditional English breakfast would appear in front of you with fried eggs, fried bacon, fried sausage if it could be fried and eaten for breakfast, it was on your plate! Lunch would perhaps escape the grease, but at supper time, tradition again would lead to fish and chips. Most areas of England have their own local food specialties. Do a little research before you go to see what's local to the area you'll be staying. Smoked kippers might not be your idea of a tasty breakfast, but toast with fresh butter and homemade marmalade could be a great way to start your day!

The company employs 14 full-time and expands as individual projects demand. "We've had no weird requests for Komodo dragons or anything like that," he said. But we just got two contracts to provide lunches for two camps: one in Westchester and one on the Westchester-Putnam border."

English Food - The Myths and Realities of Eating in England Today

It's an old joke that English food is unhealthy and if you visit England you'll come back weighing pounds heavier because everything's cooked in grease. Unfortunately many people think of this as fact, and the truth is that a short while ago there was little defense against this kind of verbal attack on English cuisine.

The company employs 14 full-time and expands as individual projects demand. "We've had no weird requests for Komodo dragons or anything like that," he said. But we just got two contracts to provide lunches for two camps: one in Westchester and one on the Westchester-Putnam border."At the other end of the social scale, afternoon tea at the Ritz may be out of your budget range, but there are many smaller establishments that will offer sandwiches and cakes served with tea or coffee. Of course strawberries and cream are the ultimate in English summer food!It could be a good time to be in the barbecue business, which Crystal Spoons runs as its Westchester Picnic Co. (The company also handles institutional and contract food services under the Crystal Spoon moniker and home-delivered gourmet meals under its Top Chef Meals banner.)When it's all added up, Ghiron said his business is off about 20 percent from pre-recession highs and he "calls that a bellwether of overall business in the region: "Handling weddings and bar mitzvahs and the like is different. People are going to do them no matter what - they're going to get married or have the bar mitzvah - even if they scale back. But businesses do these events more by choice, so I think we're a very good barometer for business activity," he said.Don't listen to the age-weary jokes. English food has changed for the better. Try it for yourself!Crystal Spoon will customize just about any food: "We catered a hospital bariatric unit" - which deals with obesity - "for an anniversary event," Ghiron said. "Everyone wanted to support their method and their mission, so we presented low-carb foods, extensive hors d'oeuvres. They were very specific to do it that way."Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital hosted its most-recent employee barbecue at Byram Shore Park. In the Hudson Valley, a Middletown corporation also contracted for a barbecue, although as Ghiron noted, "As we go up into the Hudson Valley - into Putnam and Dutchess - we see a larger percentage of business in private homes - it's maybe 50-50 up there and more tilted toward the corporate farther south."Visiting England you will find many restaurants offering a menu from different parts of the world, cooked by natives of that country. Italian restaurants in particular offer a taste of Italy in even the most modest of cities. Indian and Chinese restaurants are everywhere and offer good meals at a budget cost. Fast food outlets from around the world compete alongside sushi bars for lunch-time trade in much the same way as they do in other major cities around the world. One place you will find traditional English food however is in the local pub. Many pubs now serve meals, especially at lunch time. Here, especially on Sundays, you will be able to experience a traditional English meal of sliced roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, and all the trimmings. The quality of food served will differ greatly from pub to pub, but the menu is usually the same.

Don't listen to the age-weary jokes. English food has changed for the better. Try it for yourself!

Best of Nantucket's Beaches

Best of Nantuckets Beaches

Tourists, vacationers and coastal residents flock to beaches every year. What is it about the worlds beaches that attract people from all over the globe? The answer is obvious the warm sand, clear skies, hot temperatures and cool water.Photos/Multimedia Gallery Available: http://www.businesswire.com/cgi-bin/mmg.cgi?eid=6727188&lang=enFor information on other areas, contact the Bureau of Land Management. Keep your eyes open for other RVs parked out in the desert or forest. Finally, ask around. Other RVers will give you the best information on RV camping. If you ask around when you are in the desert southwest, you'll find there are RV communities that form every winter. Some of these temporary towns like "Slab City" in California, have bookstores, grocery vendors, and other businesses run by RVers. Once summer returns, these boondock communities disappear, and reappear again the following winter.Just look around, and you'll find "hidden" places where you can park your RV for a week or a month in the desert southwest. Some are inexpensive, other's free. The Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area, for example, north of Bowie, Arizona, costs $3 per night, and has nice hotsprings and plenty of wildlife. An annual permit costs $30, but you're limited to two weeks per month (permits are sold at the BLM office in Safford). You can stay outside the fenced area free, but then you don't get the hotsprings and shaded picnic tables. There are other beaches such as Siasconset or just Sconset for short and Madaket Beach. Madaket beach is a great place to catch the sunset and hang out, but dangerous and strong surf makes swimming difficult. Sconset Beach also has strong a strong undertow but it is still worth visiting. It has a nice view and is just a short walk from town.Nantucket, Massachusetts just off the Southern Massachusetts coast has 82 miles of beaches. What makes it unique is that while many of the beaches are privately owned the owners keep them open for the public to enjoy. While the Island is home to some 10,000 year-round in the summer the population on the island rocket to 50,000. There are beaches for all likes and types. There are private beaches with cottages, beaches for surfing, marinas, beaches for chilling out, theres the wharf and Nantucket Harbor and even a child beach for children and families.Dionis Beach is on the Nantucket Sound and is perfect for swimming and smaller children because of the calmer waters.RV camping is common in Winter in Arizona. RV Camping

RV camping can make for a great trip almost anywhere, but I think it is best in the west. In many areas, you can just drive into the desert, and stay free for up to two weeks. It's true of most BLM (Bureau Of Land Management) and national forest lands, and many state forest lands too. You have to move every two weeks, but how far is open to interpretation, and mostly yours will be accepted.

Long known as the family beach is Surfside Beach on the south side of the island. There is parking, bike paths and a shuttle that runs to this beach. The only danger is strong under toes. This unfortunately is the danger for all of the beaches along the south coast of the island. Beaches on the northside, or on the Nantucket Sound have much calmer waters. There are lifeguards on duty at Surfside Beach.Ocean Spray is an agricultural cooperative owned by more than 700 cranberry growers in Massachusetts, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and other parts of Canada as well as more than 50 Florida grapefruit growers. Ocean Spray was formed 80 years ago by three cranberry growers from Massachusetts and New Jersey. Florida grapefruit growers joined the Cooperative in 1976. Ocean Spray is North America’s leading producer of canned and bottled juices and juice drinks, and has been the best-selling brand name in the canned and bottled juice category since 1981. Ocean Spray posted fiscal 2010 gross sales of $2.05 billion and net proceeds of $340 million. No matter what the personality theres a Nantucket beach to match. To honor American tradition during Memorial Day celebrations and throughout the summer, Ocean Spray provides recipes and tips for planning perfect picnics, blazing barbeques or functions with flair. Treat guests to a delectable feast that only the sweet, tangy, unique flavor of the cranberry can provide. There is a lot to do on and near the water on any Nantucket beach also. There is boating, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and of course fishing. There are many places on the shore that will rent out motor boats, sailboats, kayaks and windsurfers. Fishing is also popular right from the beach. Thats right, in late spring and early fall the fish come close enough to shore where fishing is as enjoyable as it is successful. There are bait and tackle shops that both sell and rent fishing equipment. There are also charter boats that will take fishers out to sea for a few hours or a full day.For the surfers theres Cisco Beach. With big waves, this beach is the best place to surf or catch a surfing lesson. Life guards are available there, but surfers are still urged to be cautious because there can be strong riptides and under toes.

For information on other areas, contact the Bureau of Land Management. They can tell you what's available under their jurisdiction. Materials of Patio Furniture

Patio furniture is also known as Garden furniture which is specifically designed for outside purpose. People design patio for the sake of having fun. The furniture is thus designed according to the weather so as to keep it resistant to all the dust particles, moisture and humidity. Garden furniture has got fame now-a-days and people construct it in their homes as their luxury enjoyment.

So the final word? I think in the end that if you just want a nice, pretty picnic table to put in the back yard then I would go with the six foot picnic table. Especially is space is a priority in your yard or on your deck. However, if you are getting a table for a staff area, large family or social gathering then the eight foot table offers the most seating capacity.Seating:Another thing about the six foot tables is that I find them to be higher quality in general. Quality in the sense of wood condition. When I build a six foot picnic table I start with 8 foot long 2x6's. This means that when I cut each piece of wood down, I get to choose where I cut from. Because of this I can cut off split, checked and generally damaged ends. Same goes for the fact that sometimes, staples are driven quite deep into the wood.Parasols:If you have decided on a Cedar table, you also have another option available to you let it go bare. Thats right: you can allow your Cedar table to age naturally! Cedar wood is one of natures most impressive resources, as it naturally repels the elements and insects. By doing nothing more than keeping your picnic table clean regularly, the wood will naturally mature into a beautiful, rustic finish that will please your friends and family for years to come. But know that this is a unique quality to cedar try this with many other hardwoods, and you will be replacing more than enjoying the quality of your picnic table. One of the most popular solutions towards perfecting your hardwood patio table is using a stain or a wood sealer. By applying a wood sealer or stain, the table will absorb a natural color form the stain, giving it beautiful protection for years to come. Furthermore, the stain or wood sealer will preserve the hardwood for years to come. When you are tired of the color or the feel of the hardwood stain, removing and resealing is as easy as stripping down the old paint, and re-applying the stain or wood sealer of your choice.Outdoor Kitchens:Chaise lounge:Outdoor fireplace needs special attention while it is being constructed and is therefore formed of solid substances like stone, brick and concrete. It may consist of a firebox to light up the fire and a chimney for its exit. If outdoor fireplace needs strong constructing material, likewise it also needs special care for its cleaning so as to keep it reasonably tidy and remove the ashes often. It may even be treated just as a decoration piece for just lighting up fire.Picnic tables:So what about the eight foot? Well, the eight foot is elegant and inspiring in size and makes you think of great summer days and big family gatherings. When I build and eight foot table, I always think about the great times someone is going to have with all their family or close friends gathered around, enjoying great food.Different sets of garden furniture are available now-a-days. The companies make it sure that the garden furniture is durable and have variety of products so as to make their customers satisfied with the products they buy. Following are the different combination of garden furnitures that are used in the patio or either in the restaurants because of their varied uses. With the right selection, picnic tables made of hardwood can be the one of the most welcoming assets to your patio during the warm months. By deciding on the perfect touch to complete it for your outdoor paradise, you will be adding value and joy to your investment for years to come.Outdoor Fireplace:The most prominent and the oldest gardening furniture are still present in Pompeii. The last point to talk about is the staining. While the size of the table makes no difference to this decision, it still needs to be made when you buy your picnic table regardless of size. From the moment you get a picnic table and put it outside, the elements are going to start chipping away at it. For an extra couple of dollars you can buy some stain and waterproofing and spend an afternoon getting a tan and taking care of your new purchase. If that's not your cup of tea, a few extra dollars more and your builder will be more than happy to do it for you. After all, if you like handcrafted furniture... you want to keep that wood pretty.Let's talk about the six foot table first. I personally like these tables the best of all the ones I build. Because of the shorter length, they are stronger and more sturdy. They also are a lot easier to move around which is something to consider if you like to follow the sun in your back yard.

A whole outdoor fireplace may constitute an outdoor kitchen with wood fire ovens for making meals and enjoying parties on small or grand scale.

How To Pick Out Your Picnic Table

So what's best for your situation? A six foot or eight foot picnic table? I'll tell you my opinions on both as a builder.

Chairs:This is a problem that greets many new picnic table owners, as they bring their items home for the first time. The excitement wears off when its color glows on the patio, and you find yourself with just as much of a problem as a solution. But knowing the problem is the first step towards figuring out a solution. And because it is made of hardwood, your options are many on how to make it work for your patio set.Furniture required in patio:For sitting. Wide variety of garden features with different combinations is offered by companies. In seating patio furniture, sets of four chairs with a table and a parasol are offered as a base of patio furniture with different designs and fabrics.A whole outdoor fireplace may constitute an outdoor kitchen with wood fire ovens for making meals and enjoying parties on small or grand scale.Perhaps you are going for a theme with your patio that your picnic table needs to fit in. Everything, including the deck, fits into a certain color scheme. The great advantage to buying a wood picnic table is that you can always paint it to the color you want it to be. When purchasing a paint for your picnic table, make sure that it is a water sealing paint, that will preserve the wood underneath. Painting a hardwood picnic table allows the ultimate customization for your picnic table, as you can add any design or theme you want. Paint on the colors of your favorite sports team, alma mater, or whatever else you can think of its yours to customize! And changing it is as easy as sanding it down, and restarting all over again.

After all, if you like handcrafted furniture... you want to keep that wood pretty.

You Have A Hardwood Picnic Table Now What?

So you finally broke down and bought that picnic table you have been looking at all winter. Youve priced them, sat at them, and even sought different woods to find the perfect texture. Now that you have spent the cash, and brought it home, you are ready to introduce it as part of your outdoor paradise. Except there is a problem: you have a completely unfinished picnic table, standing proudly as nature intended on your patio.

A picnic table is also used in patio furniture which is given shade by the parasols. They be used for fashion purpose and may be light in weight or they may be durable. An outdoor fireplace is basically constructed out of the house and can be formed in with Patio furniture. Outdoor fireplace is more common in western countries where the climate is cold and supports its existence in the patio furniture.Oldest surviving garden furniture:Chaise lounge can also be added in the patio furniture but it looks splendid and adds to the beauty of patio and true meaning to its purpose. Chaise lounge is basically a couch in the shape of a chair which is extended enough and is supported by at least four legs. Chaise lounge can be of various shapes and colors. Their size can vary according to the area of the patio.

With the right selection, picnic tables made of hardwood can be the one of the most welcoming assets to your patio during the warm months. By deciding on the perfect touch to complete it for your outdoor paradise, you will be adding value and joy to your investment for years to come.
